My Starbucks Rewards Program Terms of Use
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR USING THIS PROGRAM, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS DESCRIBED HEREIN AND ALL TERMS INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THESE TERMS, DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM.
These Terms of Use apply to your access to, and participation in, the My Starbucks Rewards program which is operated by Starbucks Corporation or its subsidiaries and affiliated companies (collectively, “Starbucks”) in the United States of America (“My Starbucks Rewards”). These Terms of Use do not alter in any way the terms or conditions of any other agreement you may have with Starbucks for products, services or otherwise. Starbucks reserves the right to change or modify these Terms of Use or any policy, FAQ, or guideline pertaining to My Starbucks Rewards at any time and in its sole discretion. Any changes or modifications will be effective immediately upon posting the revisions to www.starbucks.com, and you waive any right you may have to receive specific notice of such changes or modifications. Your continued participation in My Starbucks Rewards will confirm your acceptance of such changes or modifications; therefore, you should review these Terms of Use and applicable policies frequently to understand the terms and conditions that apply to My Starbucks Rewards. If you do not agree to the amended terms, you must stop participating in My Starbucks Rewards.
This program is not targeted towards, nor intended for use by, anyone under the age of 13. If you are between the ages of 13 and 18, you may only use My Starbucks Rewards under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms of Use.

Program Overview
My Starbucks Rewards is one way in which Starbucks endeavors to reward and thank loyal customers for patronizing Starbucks business. To enroll in My Starbucks Rewards and receive program benefits, you will first need to create an account at www.starbucks.com and then activate and register at least one (1) Starbucks Card to your account. “Activation” means that the Starbucks Card has a minimum of $5.00 loaded onto it. Starbucks Cards may be activated at participating Starbucks stores or online at www.starbucks.com/card. You can register any activated Starbucks Card to your account at www.starbucks.com/card/register. The registration process includes providing the following information via the online registration form: Username, Password, City of Birth, Email Address, Starbucks Card number, and Card Security Code (CSC), Birthday, Name, Address, Home Phone Number, Mobile Number (optional), Marketing Preferences.
All of your Starbucks Cards – including digital Starbucks Cards – can be activated and registered for use in My Starbucks Rewards. Starbucks Rewards benefits are determined based on the number of “Visits” you make and the number of “Stars” that you earn through your Visits. A “Visit” for purposes of My Starbucks Rewards means each time you use your activated, registered Starbucks Card to pay for a transaction at a participating Starbucks store in the U.S. or at www.starbucksstore.com. You will receive one (1) “Star” for each Visit. You can use any Starbucks Card registered to your Starbucks.com account to earn Stars for your Visits.
There are three (3) levels of benefits in My Starbucks Rewards depending on the number of Stars that you accumulate in your account. By opening an account, and activating and registering a Starbucks Card, you will be automatically enrolled in My Starbucks Rewards at the Welcome Level. Earn at least five (5) Stars within the twelve (12) month period following your enrollment date and you will proceed to the Green Level. If you earn at least thirty (30) Stars within the 12-month period following your enrollment date, you will qualify for the Gold Level.
Once you reach a specific Level within the My Starbucks Rewards program, you will receive the benefits that are applicable to that Level for a 12-month period. However, you must continue to make Visits and accumulate Stars in order to maintain your benefit level:
- To maintain the Welcome Level benefit, you must earn at least one (1) new Star during each 12-month period following your enrollment date.
- To maintain Green Level benefits, you must earn at least five (5) new Stars during each 12-month period following the date you reached the Green Level.
- To maintain Gold Level benefits, you must earn at least thirty (30) new Stars during the 12- month period following the date you reached the Gold Level.
Welcome Level
Opening an account and activating and registering your Starbucks Card automatically enters you into the “Welcome Level” of My Starbucks Rewards and entitles you to receive:
- A postcard for a complimentary beverage of your choice at participating U.S. Starbucks stores. Your birthday postcard will be sent to the address affiliated with your account during the month before your birthday and will expire approximately seven (7) days after the date that you have indicated is your birthday. You must surrender the postcard to the barista to receive your free birthday beverage and only one birthday beverage per person per address will be provided regardless of the number of registered Starbucks Cards to your account.
Green Level
After five (5) Visits in a 12 consecutive month period, you will advance from the Welcome Level to the “Green Level” and receive the following benefits:
- Welcome Level benefit (i.e., free birthday beverage described above)
- Free beverage customization (i.e., select syrups and soy milk):
Complimentary syrup choices include Caramel (regular or sugar-free), Cinnamon Dolce (regular or sugar-free), Classic, Hazelnut (regular or sugar-free), Raspberry, Peppermint, Toffee Nut and Vanilla (regular or sugar-free). Syrups are subject to availability and exclude all seasonal or promotional beverages and syrups. The complimentary syrup selection is subject to change at any time without notice and at Starbucks discretion. Complimentary soy milk in lieu of whole milk, 2% milk or non-fat milk. - Unlimited Free Refill(s) on Brewed Coffee or Tea:
You must use your registered Starbucks Card to purchase a hot or iced brewed coffee or tea and then present that same Starbucks Card for refills during the same store visit. This benefit is not available for Pour Over, Starbucks Reserve™ or Clover® Brewed coffees, or at Drive Thru locations. - Free tall (12 fl.oz.) beverage of your choice with purchase of one (1) Pound Whole Bean Starbucks® Coffee:
Your complimentary tall beverage must be redeemed at the time you purchase one (1) pound of Whole Bean Starbucks® Coffee. This benefit is not available for Pour Over, Starbucks Reserve™ or Clover® Brewed coffees. - Special Trial Offers:
Special offers are distributed by email only, so you must opt-in to receive promotional and marketing emails from Starbucks and provide a valid email address in order to receive them.
Gold Level
After thirty (30) Visits in a 12 consecutive month period, you reach the “Gold Level.” At the Gold Level you receive the following benefits:
- All Welcome and Green Level benefits (as described above)
- A personalized Starbucks Card (mailed to your address)
- Additional personalized offers and coupons:
Additional personalized offers and coupons are distributed by email only, so you must opt-in to receive promotional and marketing emails from Starbucks and provide a valid email address in order to receive them. - The ability to earn free drinks:
Once you have reached the Gold Level, you will receive a postcard after every fifteen (15) additional Visits. The free drink postcard is good for one (1) free drink of your choice at participating U.S. Starbucks stores. The postcard will be valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue and must be surrendered to the barista to receive the free drink.
Miscellaneous
There are no membership fees associated with My Starbucks Rewards. Stars accumulated under the program have no cash value.
Your Stars, benefits, registered Starbucks Card(s), and your account under the My Starbucks Rewards program are personal to you and may not be sold, transferred or assigned to, or shared with, family, friends or others.
Starbucks reserves the right to terminate your account and/or your participation in My Starbucks Rewards if Starbucks believes that you have violated these Terms of Use, or that the use of your account is unauthorized, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful or in violation of these Terms of Use.
Starbucks also reserves the right to “unregister” and make ineligible for the My Starbucks Rewards program any Starbucks Card that has been inactive for two (2) consecutive years. Inactive is defined as no purchase activity.
Starbucks reserves the right to terminate, discontinue or cancel the My Starbucks Rewards program at any time and in its sole discretion without notice to you.
