Tribute Days

This spring, Starbucks will celebrate a legacy of 40 years. From our beginnings in Seattle’s Pike Place Market to today, we’ve been honored to share coffee, conversations and community with all of you.

Tribute Days: March 10-12

To mark the last 40 years, we invite everyone to join us for Tribute Days. This event is a celebration of you – because without you, there is no us.

If you come to Starbucks between 2 and 5 p.m. on March 10-12, we’ll treat you to a free Starbucks Petites when you order any handcrafted beverage (while supplies last). We hope to see you there, and please feel welcome to invite a friend.

RSVP on Facebook for Tribute Days

What are Petites?

These are our new, perfectly sized treats. There are eight different ones, and each is less than 200 calories – making for a well-deserved afternoon reward.

Thanks! I've been a loyal customer all those years! I bought coffee from you in the beginning at the market when I was a student at the UW - before we knew about lattes. Now I wouldn't travel with out my Starbucks app to locate my next stop! I currently live in CA near the Sequoia National Park. Jaclyn

I love the fact that where ever I am I can "treat" myself to a beverage that makes me happy and that it is consistent. My husband, sons and myself have spent this Cold Winter getting "Chai Tea Latte" all over the East Coast and also in the Midwest. It is very satisfying, especially when you are feeling Frozen!!! Thank You for great products and service!

Hey" Guy's. Love your coffee and music, and the team work in the positions of your employee"s. But I have been sitting here today from 8:45a.m-2:18p.m., catching up with my work, with that I have made several bathroom breaks. Women's restroom has been out of soap and seat cover"s since, restroom has been a messy place to visit. I'am in the medical field and carrie handy wipes. There has been down time for the employee"s to stand around and talk, but have over look

I have always enjoyed a nice cup of "hot" coffee and as an older retired citizen always looking to save money, I was very happy when you begin to offer the Pike Place roast for only $1.50! and some of your delicious pastries as well. I was a dedicated non-coffee-drinker until my 17-year-old daughter, a new partner, convinced me to try a cinnamon dolce latte, and voila! I found my drink, followed by pumpkin spice in the fall. Alas, the Starbucks closest to my home (and where my daughter worked) closed a little more than a year after it opened, so I've had to drive a bit farther for my favorite drink, but it's a nice treat a couple of times a week. And my daughter? She's in college in Atlanta, still working for Star

The Tribute Blend brewed coffee is incredible! I am going to buy a bag on my next visit. I was told that it will only be available for a week though! (?) The petites are really good. I think that $1.50 is a bit much for them though. Maybe if you didn't add the cute little box, it would save some money. I suppose I should post that comment on the ideas section...

I would guess most of these posters like myself, are and have been loyal Starbucks customers, so in that vein, where are the freebees to repay us for our loyalty ? I mean, Godiva which is also high end, as well as Rita's and Baskin Robbins reward their loyal customers (especially since this IS an anniversary). Why not show a small token of gratitude in the way of,oh lets say,a free cup of your coffee?

Hello Mr. Shultz and everyone at Starbucks. I live near Winchester, VA and visit the Starbucks there extensively. My husband and I both enjoy not only all of the drinks, special treats, and promotional specials, but it is really the friendly folks at the store that make it more like a place to take a few minutes from the hectic, busy, world around outside to relax and just enjoy and regroup from the tasks at hand. Thanks to everyone for a great home away from home. Jill and Bill Poe.

Yes, Indeed congratulations. I have been a happy shareholder and 'Starbucks cardholder for about 15 of those years. But really, your three day promotion is bound to be madly popular, and the stores jammed, and certainly the supply of your free treats will not last for those of us 'loyalists' who cannot get to our favorite location before the very end of the day. Why not code our cards so they are valid for one free treat, when we care to calmly enjoy it with our favorite beverage?

    • 3/10/2011 9:18 AM

I've been a loyal customer for 18+ years, ever since I had my first espresso drink (a quad mocha a friend had begged me to try). In fact, it's the running joke in our family that I should own a piece of the company, as much money as I've spent there. ;)

Is there a reason from 2 to 5 when a lot of us are still working? why not over lunch or in the morning when I can stop on my way into work? Would love to try these but the timing is not good and based on my work location and nearest Starbucks would have to leave early to make it to a Starbucks by 5. Oh yes I can go on Saturday as I'm not busy with chores and errands.

Of course, things can go wrong in any celebration. I dropped in to my local Starbucks, ordered my drink, and handed over my card. I then saw the sign reminding me about the free goodies. I asked and was told that she would have had to have rung it up with my drink. No offer to fix it or anything. I walked out with my coffee and a very bad impression of this special celebration. Sorry, Starbucks, but for now you've lost me.

OK Shultz, are you paying people to right sappy comments for you or are you now serving Kool-Aid? I, for one, am not totally overwhelmed (or even slightly whelmed) by getting a tiny piece of cake for free with my $3 cup of Joe before it goes up to whatever your outrageous price will be!

Just went to Starbucks with my daughter. She ordered before me and did not ask about the freebie. I ordered and asked and also about my daughters getting one and she could not have one cause she didn't ask when ordering.Poor customer service by not fixing so she could have one ( I gave her mine). Why didn't employee offer when my daughter placed her order?Employees should have mentioned it I would think that's part of their job, now I understand why others complain about starbucks.

After seeing this advertised after I'd gotten my morning coffee; I decided to make a stop this afternoon and treat myself to a caramel frappuccino and a chance to try out one of the new petite treats. I was there at 2:30 but didn't realize I had to request the free sample when I ordered (who knew and how did they know?). So ... no freebie. I really expected it to be offered when I got to the window. Annoying.

Shameful! I took my wife and daughter to get their "favorite" drink and was told we could share one (1) free sample petite. Not as advertised and such a P R problem. My daughter loves starbucks so I oblidge and take her and we enjoy the times together. I can certainly do with Costco $1 Mochas and she can certainly do with drinks elsewhere. Very sad considering that other patrons were given multiple treats with multiple drinks. It was the manager that was inconsistent at this location.
