Pick of the Week Goes Digital

Some of my very first memories involve music. I remember learning the words to “Octopus’s Garden” in my first grade music class. The scratchy sounds of Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” as it played on my parents’ record player in our den. REO Speedwagon on the radio as I played under the kitchen table while Mom cooked dinner. My dad bursting into our bedrooms on our birthdays, belting out “Birthday” off the Beatles’ White Album.

My love of music has stuck with me my entire life. When I came to work at Starbucks a few months ago, I was so excited to work on Pick of the Week, our program that lets you download a free hand-selected song on iTunes®. Even before I came to Starbucks, I looked forward to walking into my favorite coffeehouse (Northgate, hollaaa!) and picking up the newest Pick of the Week card. I love discovering new music and Pick of the Week does an amazing job of introducing me to music I’ve never heard before. Now that I’ve seen the whole Pick of the Week process, I have even more respect for the masterminds behind the project and the artists who participate.

That’s part of the reason I’m proud to announce that now Pick of the Week is available for digital download inside Starbucks stores. From any participating U.S. store location, users can now download the current Pick of the Week from our free Wi-Fi landing page. We launched this digital Pick of the Week with Eddie Vedder’s newest single, “Better Days” from the Eat Pray Love soundtrack.

Pick of the Week cards are still available in participating stores, but now there’s another way to download free music from Starbucks. So keep discovering new music and be sure to get your Pick of the Week today.

I have tried at a couple of different stores to find the right page to download the digital Starbucks iTunes pick of the week, but I have been unsuccessful. The post refers to the Wi-FI landing page. What is the URL for the Wi-Fi landing page? What is the URL for the page where you can download the pick of the week when you are in the store?

I'm not sure what the URL is, but when you open up your internet browser and navigate away from your homepage, you should be automatically taken to the website you have to use to connect to the Wi-Fi. Once you are connected, you should be sent to a second website which is the Wi-Fi Landing Page. Hope this helps!

I attempted this again this morning at a local starbucks. I have been using my iPhone in Starbucks for some time with the att wireless. Not matter what I do, I am not automatically taken to website that you have to use to connect ot the wifi; I am just connected and able to browse the internet. I tried turning the iPhone wifi off and then on again, but with the same results. I never get a wifi landing page.

I tried that link on the wireless at one Starbucks this morning and got back the page: I will try at another store and see if I get different results.

Several weeks ago I got: to function. However, since 10-19-2010 the page has been giving out Kings of Leon - Birthday download codes. I've emailed Starbucks Corporate twice about this and have not gotten a response that indicates acknowledgement of the page's failure to update each Tuesday.

I think you should feature lesser known Inde musicians , like me, for Pick of the Week. most of the bands you feature all already rich (sometimes obscenely rich) and famous. We little guys need some exposure! Thanks - Laurie Dameron Boulder, Colorado!!!

I see these posts are old but have been experiencing the same issue for the last year. When you open you computer a landing page automatically opens where you must click I agree. Once you click "I agree" this page quickly disappears. If you then open your page it takes you to your default website. I think the ATTI system then doesn't recognize that you are in the store and you will get an error message. What sometimes works is not to agree on the pop up that loads. but open Firefox (Mac)

con't - and are then in the browser and the same page should load. When you agree you should see the downloads. I have tried to talk to folks about this before but no one is listening.
