OMG! We bought a Keurig® machine this weekend after we saw the email announcing the arrival of Starbucks K cups. No decaf? Please tell me it's just the first release and that Starbucks decaf will be released soon. Otherwise I may as well return the machine!

I have been waiting 5 years for this, so thank you. But I too would like to have a Decaf Verona added to the list of K-cups. I would also like to know when they are comming to Canada. I bought $400 worth when I was in Watertown NY for black friday and ordered more from amazon.

starting Dec 27th, it can be purchased through but currently available only in select stores. Dunkin Donuts did something similar, and you still cant buy DD's unless in their stores and i live on the west coast, might as well sell them in white castle restraunts too.

I just finished tasting the Starbucks house blend k cups, all I can say is! I will admit I am a bit of a coffee fanatic and on occasion roast my own beans but I love a dark brew and Starbucks hits the sweet spot and fills the empty void left from other coffee brands. Hence I rarely roast beans anymore. I was very skeptical about the new k-cups but what a surprise . I brewed a 12 oz cup size of the house blend the color was dark the flavor was bold and sweet with NO ounce of bitterness!

I find it ironic that this wasteful way of making coffee has the Starbucks Shared Planet "better for the earth" advertisement at the top. Are these cups biodegradable? Why not make a reuasbale single serve basket instead of a disposable single serve?

I reuse the disposable k cups...I went to and got lids. Open the disposable k cup and dump out the grounds and rinse it well. Let it dry and put in your own coffee, put on one of the lids from and voila! Reusable! Can even get more filters there so you can use them more than once.

I've got the cuisinart k-cup machine which comes with a reusable kcup and makes a great cup of coffee, unlike the 14$ reuseable one from Keurig.

If you were a true environmentalist, you wouldn't drink coffee at all. It is probably the most resource-intensive "food" in the world when you consider the land use, transportation, and overall energy used. The extra materials for a disposable K-cup are incrementally pretty small, and could actually be a net benefit if you only brew a single cup versus brewing larger amounts and pouring some down the sink. EARTH FIRST (we'll strip mine the other planets later).

I, too, am having a problem with the non-recyclable k-cups. Those of us who care about this earth want to recycle them. I have asked Keurig about it, but over a year ago they said they were working on it....yeah, right. Think of the millions of k-cups being thrown away. We should keep trying to get them to change to recyclable plastic!

Lighten up. And do your research. Factory farming is by far the most resource intensive commodity, as well as being terrible for the environment from it's byproducts (ie. Methane gas). I agree that k cups should be made recyclable but don't spout off propaganda to try and prove a point.

Keurig has a K cup so you can put your own coffee in it and not buy the individual cups. Works well. I have one. It is a filter basket in it.

absolutely agree, was the first thing i thought of after the first weekend with the kcups. I pulled out the old coffee pot and put it next to the kuerig. It is extremely wasteful of trash and Money$. So, it's good at night, or when I just want one cup, but I am still brewing and saving money.

Why does every store have a different amount of cups in the box? All different prices but it still comes out to about .66cents per cup. I'm so surprised that Starbucks would promote waste over profit.

I bought a large box of Pike Place roast at Sam's Club. The price per pod is a little high, but I thought it would be worth it.

I normally make my coffee at the middle cup setting. I drink it black. The coffee was thin, almost weak tasting. The caffeine kick was good, though. At the small setting, it was marginally better.

Compared to a cup from the Starbucks store, it's not even close. Compared to other K-cups, it's not even close to a favorite.

I fail to understand why your K-cups were rolled out to grocery stores yet no where to be seen in Starbucks locations! I spoke to the manager at my local Starbucks in downtown Highland Park, Illinois this morning and he said he had been told not to expect these in until sometime in the spring. This is ludicrous and makes no sense!!!
I want and expect to purchase Starbucks products at a Starbucks location, particularly when it involves coffee choices! Please correct this situation ASAP!

I'll also add my definite request for decaf. I am hooked on using my Keurig every day, but need to brew decaf only. Another important factor for me is having my coffee decaffeinated by the water process, and NOT the chemical process. Hopefully, WHEN (and not if) Starbucks comes out with decaf K-cups, it will be the water-processed method. Cannot wait, please hurry !!

I agree that we need a decaf version. However I disagree with the method of decaffeination.
Let’s face it – the chemical process tastes the best and as ironic as it may sound, it is sustainable eco friendly process. Among other reasons, the caffeine is recovered from “The Chemical Process” unlike the “Water Process”.

Did you know that? Probably not, but don’t feel bad most people don’t. Just like most people don’t stop to think about how our energy drinks and colas get their caffeine.

Not to mention that the chemical process uses about 16% the water used by the “Water Process” Water is quickly becoming the hot commodity of the century. Another parallel is the amount of water used for the organic spinach. Did you know that the industry uses 7 times more water to wash the organic spinach. In other words you might think that you are helping the world by consuming organic product however you are also setting yourself up to die of thirst later. But I digress…

I wrote in twice but never got a response from Starbucks. It is a shame that many of your very devoted customers bought a Tassimo coffee maker just to have your product at home. You should have been able to see clearly it was marketed/distributed poorly- but made an outstanding cup of coffee. The K-cup does not compare. What is Starbucks doing for the client who made the Tassimo purchase? Can't you make a cup so we don't need to switch to an inferior machine?

I got Pike Place medium roast and House Blend medium at my local Safeway; also saw at Target. Price was 11.99 for 10 cups. Taste was excellent and nice to get a hot cup of coffee at home, have never been able to get a cuppa Starbux home fast enough. Did see Sumatra dark at the Target and six varieties at Safeway. The Pike Place was sold out after I bought my box. Recommend this highly. I recommend putting half and half or milk in the cup before brewing. Heat cooks the milk and leaves great taste.

I still use a Senseo coffee machine that uses single pods that are compostable. You cannot compost k-cups when you are done. Starbucks please tell me how this is in line with your so called share planet philosophy you have about environment. To me it sounds like you are more concerned about pleasing your stock holders with a new product than you are with fulfilling your environmental stewardship that you speak about. K-cups just add more plastic waste to our already fragile planet.

I am extremely upset that Starbucks is no longer working to make disks for the Tassimo. Starbucks was the only reason I bought the Tassimo. What a waste of money. Less than a year later the Tassimo is no good to me. I will not make another expensive mistake and buy another machine like the Keruig.
Why can't Starbucks make disks for Tassimo makers as well?

I worked for *$ for 6 years and always loved the focus on community and environmentally sensitive decisions. My husband and I like different strength coffees so the keurig makes perfect sense in our home. I am however disappointed though that the k-ups from *$ are not more environmentally sensitive. It actually seems shocking that *$ would jump on the band wagon without staying true to their mission statement. Seriously, plastic and aluminum foil in the trash for cup of coffee???

I just have to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU for finally making Starbucks K-cups. I almost went with the Tassimo because they carried some Starbucks, but ended up with the Keurig so I could use the attachment that allows me to use my own coffee. I did that primarily for the Starbucks Holiday blend, which I LOVE! My only suggestion then would be to make the Thanksgiving Blend and Holiday blends available as well. For now, I'm thrilled to have Pike Place right at my Keurig fingertips each morning.

I brewed up a Pike Place K-Cup for the first time this morning. Set the machine to the 9.25 ounce size so I would have some room for ***** in a 12 ounce cup. It was okay, but a little on the weak side compared to what my local Starbucks brews in house.

    • 11/14/2011 7:09 PM

I am grateful that Starbucks has the k-cups now. I have two machines because I entertain a lot and I need to be able to let my guests pick their drink of choice. FYI for decaffers! There is a piece you can get for your machine and fill it with your favorite blend. Just have Starbucks blend coarse so the grind do not filter through the device. I tried it last night because I have a few favs from Starbucks.

There are those of us in the community that are disappointed with Starbucks decision to dissolve their agreement with Kraft. The Tassimo brewers use the barcode system to alter temperature, pressure and fluid amounts producing a much more true-to-life home product. It was wonderful to finally brew a decent cappuccino at home using my favorite brand without having to compromise quality. You've alienated a good portion of your customers that bought the Tasimo just to brew Starbucks at home. Fail!

I would really love to see Starbucks release their seasonal brews in K-Cup format. My wife and I would by three cases of Christmas blend every year, but last year she stopped drinking coffee because of gastric bypass surgery. I don't want to buy in bulk now because I tend to just brew a cup at a time. And while I do have the "My K-Cup" filter basket, it would be much more convenient to buy a box of the good stuff already to go. Just my Christmas wish.
