Check In at Starbucks

Location-based social networks are all the rage these days. After you tweet a witty thought on Twitter and update your Facebook with an equally witty (but separate) observation, let your friends know that you are at a Starbucks with Facebook Places or Foursquare. This week we have some fun announcements to let you know about.

We’re excited to be among one of the first companies to work with Facebook on their new Deals product. We’re collaborating with our friends at Conservation International to help save forests. For each check in on Facebook Places, we’ll donate $1, up to $75,000 to help protect 5,000 acres. All you have to do is stop by and check in!

Earlier this week we introduced Starbucks Check In. This is a new app that allows you to earnvirtual gifts to share with friends when you check into Starbucks on Facebook Places. Just for loading the app, we’ll give you a virtual Red Cup to share. The more you check in, the more virtual gifts you can earn to share. Check it out!

Of course, if you haven’t done so already, you can still earn a Barista Badge on Foursquare. Check in to five different Starbucks and you’ll get a badge and be the envy of all of your friends.

I love Starbucks and really enjoy tasting all the new drink concoctions you come up with. They make my drinks to perfection no matter what I wish to add or leave out. It's great! Good job Starbucks!

I wish that you would include Foursquare check-ins in your forest donation plan. I don't have a smartphone, so I can't use "apps." 4sq allows me to check in without an iPhone or Droid app, however, and I use that network all of the time... Consider it, perhaps? Thanks much.

And why do I want to give virtual gifts??? The initial 4sq campaign was better. I never drink Frapp's, but it was an incentive. A new badge would be cool too. Something for SERIOUS Starbuckers!

Oh, never mind. I see that this is a Facebook app. Never mind. Facebook is a petri dish for privacy and security leaks.

Soy Chai Latte, no water, with an extra pump of chai! Great hot drink! Soy Chai Latte, easy ice! Great cold drink! Have one everyday! In my travels the first thing I do when I arrive is find out where the nearest Starbucks is. Have pictures of Starbucks from California to Florida to the Bahamas. Yes, I am addicted!

I don't have a smartphone or a laptop or any mobile internet device. I can only be on here at my home. Checking in to 4 different Starbucks is not possible that way. I can check in from home.

Starbucks, I don't know what I would do without you. Now that I no longer live in a larger town I have to console myself with my gound beans or the new Via. Thank you and thank you for all you do!

I love the Starbucks at Ingles store 62! There is no friendlier staff nor better service anywhere! The samples are always flowing and the staff is always so generous with helping me pick a drink or a new product! They even giftwrap!

Nobles pond, Jackson township Ohio has the best baristas! Sooo disappointed in the fb check in app. I've checked in on 3 different occasions and none were successful. Neat idea - but it doesn't work very well. I'll give foursquare a try tomorrow.

All Starbucks are not created equal... The store in St. Petersburg, FL is awesome. I recently traveled out of state to VA and visited many SB there. My "home" SB is awesome. the staff excellent. while in VA that is not the case. From Chespeake, Grafton, to Lynchburg an Richmond, the service was not good. Workers were not friendly, AND most of all they do not have Trenta coffee! Keep up the good work SB on 4th and 89th in St. Petersburg, FL.

Thanks and praise to everyone at Starbucks especially to those at my local Starbucks in Winchester, Virginia. It is always a treat to stop there and I wish they would reopen the store that closed on the north side of town. Keep up the good work!

Why is the drive through more important than the in store customer? I was in the Groton, CT store and it was a sideshow. I know you have to make money, but I feel I was in a Dunkin Donuts.

I had a favorite spot to sit at my local Starbuck's, so of course they change the sitting pattern. Life is about coping with the smallest of changes.
