SRCH – Round One Recap

SRCH by Starbucks is off and running. Did you finish the first round in time to win a prize? Did you get stumped and find yourself wondering what to do next? For those who want to see how it all went down, you’ve come to the right place.

The game started with a scan of the QR code in Starbucks stores or online. That directed you to the game site where the first clue was unlocked – a video of Lady Gaga quoting lyrics from her song “Born This Way.”

Toward the end of the video she held up a hand to reveal the Shazam logo stuck to her palm. That was your clue to tag Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” using the Shazam app. If you did this, you were served up the next clue, which read “To find your next clue find the right lyrics. @SRCH”

This clue directed you to the SRCH Twitter feed where you had to find a tweet containing lyrics to “Born This Way.” That tweet contained a twitpic; if you clicked on that, you saw a screenshot of the home page with “Lady Gaga” written in the search field.

So, naturally, the next step was to go to the site and searched for “Lady Gaga”. One of the two search results generated led to a blog post where the target SRCH image was located.

If you clicked on the image in time, you saw a note that said you were the winner of a $10 Starbucks Card eGift.

Winners were required to fill out a short contact form to claim their prize. If you win a prize, you should expect to receive an email from us within two weeks of your grand accomplishment!

That was just the first of seven rounds. The next six rounds may be a little bit more challenging, but the prizes will become even more enticing. It’s okay to share clues, short cuts and hints with your friends – in fact, doing so will definitely make your work easier! But remember, each round is a race to the finish to claim a prize.

So be sure to hit the ground running at 10 a.m. PST on the days new rounds are unlocked. The next round starts on Monday, May 23. Good luck and good searching!
