Steeped in passion Searching the world for the finest quality, fresh-picked tea leaves, herbs and spices, we artistically blend them into something you can’t help but savor. This dedication makes Tazo’s beverage line-up the perfect yin to Starbucks’ yang.

Carefully selected tea leaves and botanicals are received daily at Tazo’s Portland headquarters from India, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Indonesia and Africa, the prime tea producing regions of the world. These tropical and subtropical climates give rise to the evergreen shrub, Camellia Sinensis, from which we derive the leaves used in all of our black and green teas. These, along with other herbs, flowers and spices, comprise Tazo’s three major tea varieties.

Black Teas are made of the fully dried, fermented leaf of the Camellia Sinensis. Black teas have a red amber color when brewed.

Green Teas are made from the same leaves as black teas, only the unoxidized tea leaves are steamed to stop the oxidation process, thus yielding a green and vegetative brew.

Herbal Teas are not comprised of teas leaves at all. Instead, herbal teas draw their flavors from flowers, fruit peels, roots, bark, berries, herbs and spices. Most herbal teas are caffeine free.
