Community Service, Toronto

How We'll Make a Difference Together
Join approximately 750 Starbucks partners (employees) and customers as we make a difference at the Jane Finch Centre. The goal of the Centre is to engage residents in positive activities that beautify, clean up, sustain and improve the community as well as build a sense of pride and ownership. With your help, our objective is to transform a part of this community and to help inspire a change maker spirit.

The day will kick-off with a special welcome on the grounds of the Centre. The group will then break into teams and gear up for the day. Volunteers will engage in meaningful service projects, including building educational gardens, cleaning and painting (both interior and exterior), and building structures such as park-style seating greenhouses, a rainwater catchment system, composters, fencing and retaining walls.

A celebration will take place immediately following to recognize volunteers and honor the day’s achievements. Festivities will include lunch, local entertainment and fun photo opportunities with your fellow volunteers.

Schedule for the day (Eastern Time):
  • Check-in begins: 8:30 a.m.
  • Welcome: 9 a.m.
  • Service projects: 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Celebration: 1:30 - 3 p.m.
In Canada, community service has always been a part of who we are and our hope is that this event will be the largest community service event in Starbuck Canada's history. We're thrilled to be partnering with Volunteer Canada and the Jane Finch Centre to help us make this day a reality.

Rain or Shine, We'll Be There

Events will take place rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Wear clothing that is comfortable and safe, and that you do not mind getting dirty or worn. Outdoor, closed-toe work shoes or running shoes are a must and feel free to bring your favorite pair of work-gloves to round off your attire for the day.

Registration Is Required
Please register to participate as space is limited. This will help us ensure you have a positive volunteer experience. T-shirts will be available at the event for registered participants, so please arrive early for your choice of sizes.

If you can't make this date and time, look for another community service project in your neighborhood, and get involved!

Toronto: We Helped Plant Community Gardens

Toronto Global Month of Service event

On April 16, rain, high winds and cold Canadian air didn’t stop 750 Starbucks partners (employees), customers, community members and representatives of local organizations from helping to revitalize a community in need during our Toronto Global Month of Service event.

The event was part of a collaborative environmentally focused plan to help create sustainable community gardens designed to give residents a sense of pride in their homes. Service projects included building and installing gardens around the property, planting trees, constructing a rain catchment system and paving access walkways.
