Starbucks Reserve® Tanzania Southern Highlands
A Fairtrade certified cup of tangy citrus and blackberry notes.
The grasslands of southern Tanzania, steeped with rivers and streams, are known for large nature preserves and abundant wildlife. It’s also an ideal microclimate for growing coffee – but its remote location makes for a long, arduous journey from farm to port.
That’s why our green coffee buyers were so delighted when they discovered this offering. It is a coffee at the peak of its flavors, with notes of sweet citrus, a blackberry fruitiness, and rich creamy chocolate notes.
This beautiful Fairtrade certified coffee comes to us specifically from the Mbeya and Ruvuma regions of Tanzania, where thousands of smallholder farms – the members of the Association of Kilimanjaro Specialty Growers – grow coffee under the shade of banana trees. This organization plays a vital role in helping its members improve the quality of their coffees and bring them to market in spite of the difficulties encountered.
