One of the simplest ways to brew coffee is also one of the most flavorful. The portable coffee press releases more of the coffee’s natural oils into your cup instead of into a paper filter, which means more flavor.

1. GET THE RIGHT GRIND
For a Coffee Press use a coarse grind since it will be immersed in water for a long time. Ideally the grind should resemble coarse kosher salt.

2. MEASURE THE RIGHT AMOUNT
Use 2 Tbsp of coarsely ground coffee for every 6 fl oz of hot water.

3. ADD HOT WATER
Use water that is just off the boil.

4. STIR POT
Give a quick stir with a spoon to ensure that all of the coffee is exposed to the water.

5. PLACE PLUNGER ASSEMBLY
Set it on top loosely and with the vertical teeth aligned to the pour spout. Do not depress.

6. BREW FOR 4 MINUTES
Use a kitchen timer to ensure proper steeping.

7. PRESS DOWN THE PLUNGER
Slowly press the plundger to the bottom of the pot. If the press binds and it becomes harder to depress, stop and release before pressing all the way to the bottom.
