Starbucks® Gold Coast Blend®
Stout & Refined
A delicious start to your day. Whenever that might be.
The Story of Starbucks® Gold Coast Blend®
This is a serious cup. Big. Bold. Syrupy, complex and refined. A coffee that means Chicago to us. When we opened our first stores there in 1987, we wanted to introduce a blend that would honor the city, and this is it. Our master coffee blenders brought together the heft of beans from Indonesia and Latin America with a bit of roasty sweetness from our dark Italian Roast. Creating a taste every bit as sophisticated as the neighborhood we named it after. And hearty enough to go up against the famously bitter winters.
(Gold Coast is known outside our Starbucks® stores as ‘Morning Joe’.)
Processing: Washed & Semi-Washed
Is the coffee in the grocery stores the same as the coffee in your stores?
Absolutely—only the packaging is different. This is so you can easily find your Starbucks® favorites in the coffee aisle.
What is Gold Coast Blend®? It is a bold coffee – yes, that is true. But it is more than that.
It is the place where I experienced the start of my career with Starbucks and a place I have grown to cherish. It is the great city of Chicago!
My best memories of Gold Coast Blend® take me back to my training time in the Gold Coast, one of Chicago’s most unique and exclusive neighborhoods. I spent so much time walking from coffeehouse to coffeehouse, experiencing the welcoming third place between our partners and customers.
