What’s it Like to Work at Starbucks?

Hear one barista’s story.

In October 2009, we invited Starbucks baristas around the world to submit short videos describing why they love what they do.

We heard many great stories – but after we heard this one from artist-drummer-barista Brad Porter, we knew we had to share it.

Brad describes himself as a “warm-blooded native Southerner” who graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2007 with a degree in Fine Arts. He is a talented musician who has played at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He says he loves three “distinctly American” genres of music: boogie-woogie, blues and jazz, along with the prose and poetry of Shel Silverstein.

“Working for Starbucks helps me work toward my dream of drumming for a living while flexing my creative skills,” Brad says. Through his talent and passion, it’s clear Brad gives back to Starbucks as much energy as we give him.
