Supply Chain Operations Partners
These partners are responsible for all that you touch and taste.
Building a world-class, sustainable supply chain requires great talent and incredible passion. See what motivates the people at Starbucks.
These people help bring the Starbucks experience to life.
With responsibilities that include more than 70,000 outbound deliveries a week to Starbucks retail stores, distribution channels and outlets worldwide, keeping Starbucks products flowing from suppliers to customers is, needless to say, a complex exercise – but we’re able to do so with a world-class Supply Chain Operations organization that manages its activities through four functions: Plan, Source, Make and Deliver.
Here are some of the people you’ll meet who keep our products moving.
If you ask executive vice president Peter G. what drew him to Starbucks, he’ll tell you it was “the irresistible challenge of bringing my supply chain experience to an energetic and growing company with people who are passionate about the product, the business and each other.” When Peter isn’t busy leading a complex global supply chain, he enjoys playing soccer (no longer as striker, but apparently as a respectable sweeper), reading biographies and, with his wife Katy, keeping up with their three teenagers. Peter starts each morning with a tall Bold coffee.
Senior supply chain planning manager Kimberly A. directs production planning across five roasting plants and multiple contract-manufacturing facilities. She’s excited about the many opportunities she sees ahead of her as Starbucks grows and develops new channels for their products. She loves traveling with her family, visiting new places and learning new cultures. Her favorite beverage is a nonfat Caffè Latte.
Guatemala native Peter T. grew up around the coffee industry; his family has farmed there for generations. As one of Starbucks regional directors , he views his career as an opportunity to leave “a legacy in the coffee industry. No other company would allow that.” Because he is someone who appreciates legacies, it’s not altogether surprising that his favorite coffee is not from Guatemala, but from Ethiopia, the original birthplace of coffee.
Anna J. came to Starbucks because it is “a fast-moving, exciting company with lots of opportunities for people like me who are motivated and ambitious.” As director of operations at our Kent Roasting Plant, she knows a lot about good coffee; her favorite is Guatemala Antigua.
Rachel S., vice-president of store delivery and customer service, leads in the management of 35 distribution centers serving our U.S. stores nightly. She also oversees a customer service team dedicated to supporting the product needs of our stores and nationwide grocery establishments. It’s a challenging, rewarding job that she tackles with a rich cup of Tazo® Awake™ Brewed Tea.
Here are some more of the people who keep products moving at Starbucks.
Katie W. is a manager in our international supply chain group, and she reports that it’s been exciting to see Starbucks grow as a global company. Outside of work, Katie likes to laugh, ski and spend time with her family and her dog, Jax. Her all-time favorite coffee is Ethiopia Limu.
Coffee-lover Kim G. finds working here as a manager of green coffee quality to be a natural fit. She helps ensure that coffee beans meet our exacting standards for both Starbucks and Seattle’s Best Coffee. Her coffee of choice would be one from Africa.
Director of contract manufacturing Scott R. describes Starbucks as a fast-paced working environment, but notes the company “continues to look for ideas from all partners to build and improve its foundation and performance.” Because of that, he optimistically claims his favorite memory of working here is “still to come.” We also know he looks forward to his daily Grande “Blackeye” – a drip coffee with a shot of espresso – with hazelnut syrup and half-and-half.
