Top Five Reasons to Love Skinny Caramel Macchiato

Hi! We have another delicious addition to our "skinny" espresso drink line up: Skinny Caramel Macchiato.

Here are my top five reasons to love Skinny Caramel Macchiato…

  1. It’s ‘skinny’ at its best – nonfat milk, sugar free vanilla syrup, no whip – topped with a layer of creamy foam and drizzled with a hint of buttery caramel.
  2. There are only 105 calories in a Tall size (12 fl oz) – can you believe it?
  3. There are only 140 calories in a Grande size (16 fl oz) – ust as delicious if I need a little more skinny in my day!
  4. It’s delicious iced and beautiful too… Iced Skinny Caramel Macchiato has visual layers of coffee caramel goodness and is my personal favorite.
  5. It’s here just in time to help you with your New Year’s goal.

Skinny Caramel Macchiato is just one of many beverages that you can try "skinny". To try it skinny, just ask for: nonfat milk + sugar-free syrup + no whip.

Let me know what you think about trying your favorite espresso beverages skinny!

Tried it yesterday morning before work for the 1st time...And may I say - Oh my gosh! The Skinny Caramel Macchiato has NOTHING to ask from the regular one. Tastes just as delicious and without all the calories. Way to go, Starbucks! I remain a faithful customer through and through :)

Does the 140 calories in a grande include the caramel drizzle?

Yes it does include the caramel drizzle which is not sugar-free but you can ask them not to put it on if your watching your sugar intake.

If you do that, then you should just ask for a grande 3 pump SFV upside down skinny vanilla latte...since it's cheaper. The caramel drizzle is what makes the CM more expensive. Hope that helps lleatherbarrow!

This is my drink! I get it everyday. It took a while to get used to at first. I'm not a shopper or big money spender, so a quad venti skinny caramel macchiato is my splurg of choice. In Calgary, AB we get "gold cards" after using a registered card so many times or spending a certain amount.Eevery time I load my card I earn "stars" and after 15 stars you are sent a post card for a free drink! When I get the post card I usually opt for the full fat caramel macchiato, just as a special treat :)

I tried it, it has absolutely No Flavor, Very Bland. The Regular Caramel Machiato has tons of Flavor. It would be o.k. to get the regular one Occasionally, it's more worth your Money.

The first time I tried the skinny caramel macchiato it was pretty bland. I decided to give it another shot and it was wonderful. I think it all comes down to the barista who makes it (although this may mean they put more of the caramel sauce in it). Remember, if you don't like it, they'll remake it!

this isn't anything new!!! i have been enjoying this exact drink since fall 2007, at least 4 times a week. you have ALWAYS been able to ask for nonfat milk and SFV... perhaps starbucks customers should be more aware of their beverage customization options, so you don't miss out on this for the past however many years.... newsflash, it's always been around.

Glad Starbucks has officially recognized this version of their signature drink & provided quick & easy nutrition info (vs. the manual calculations required previously). I've been trying to use "skinny CM" since "skinny" was introduced and had many a Starbucks employee/barista correct me in my incorrect usage of the word because the caramel drizzle wasn't sugar-free. A regular caramel macchiato doesn't come with whip. So to order a "skinny" one you don't need to say, "no whip," it already comes without it. And as a side note, the caramel drizzle is not sugar free, so if you're looking for a truely skinny drink, I'd recommend trying it with light or no drizzle.

I have tried many versions of the skinny (cinnamon dolce, vanilla, etc) and this is hands down the best tasting! I was writing off sbux because on WW, it's painful to spend 5-6 points on a drink. The grande is only 3 points! I can keep my morning fix <3

Question. I have registered my Starbucks card. It says on the web site that soy is added for no additional charge. Yet everytime I ask for soy I get charged extra. Why is that? Am I supposed to tell them every visit that my card is registered and I should be charged for soy? How does this work?

      • raahel
      • 2/24/2011 7:48 PM

      In reply to: OpalDragonfly

They have to push soy milk, on the cash for record. However if you card is registered (which you say it is) then the soy charge gets minused form your total amount. If you want to double check and see if this is happen, as for you receipt, it will show whether you were charge for the soy, and also whether your card is being recognized as a registered card. Hope this helps :)

Are you a gold member yet? You reach gold member status when you have made 30 visits with your registered SB card. Once you reach gold member status, then you get the perks such as free soy.

I'm usually a 'purist' ~~ grande Pike Place black. I've been intrigued by the less fat/less sugar option of the Skinny CM and after reading some of the comments, I might give it a go with my free birthday drink. I love caramel, so hopefully I'm not disappointed! I really try to avoid drinking my calories so I hope I don't get hooked :)

by discounted flavors, do you mean the syrups that come off your bill if you use your registered Starbucks card to pay? as far as i know, it's only EXTRA syrup that will come off. like, if you got a venti vanilla latte, it would be 4.73. but if you got a venti vanilla caramel latte, it would be 4.73+the 50 cents for the caramel syrup. but if you use your starbucks card, the caramel syrup would come off.

The freebies of syrup and soymilk are free add ons. Its not free when the syrup already comes in the recipe. When you want soymilk instead of regular, it is free. Caramel is considered a sauce so it will not be free.

My only disappointment about this drink is that the caramel drizzle isnt sugar free. They make SF Caramel. I think the caramel drizzle makes all the difference in this drink but I cant have the that much sugar. I will not be able to order this unless SB starts carrying SF Caramel, otherwise its just not worth it.

    • stephibrahim
    • 2/26/2011 9:59 PM

when they say no whip, they aren't telling you to order it with no whip, they just want you to know that if you want it to remain notfat, you cannot get the whip

    • 3/6/2011 9:46 PM

I LOVE the new skinny CM!! I can't have real sugar so I'm always looking for sugar free drinks. I was giving up on SB because they only have 3 SF options and they can get tiresome. For the people who don't want the caramel drizzle because of the sugar content as them to pump some of the sugar free caramel syrup on top. Let me tell you it's freaking delicious!!!! So it's NF and sugar free....very guiltless =)

I have another reason to Love Skinny caramel macchiato. It's a great after run recovery snack. Great combination of healthy carbs & protein. I get it without the caramel drizzle so that reduces the sugar content and total calories. I love them. I think it will be my new favorite drink.

I am a little confused on how a grande Skinny Caramel Macchiato is only 140 calories. A grande is 16oz which is equal to 2 cups. A cup of skim milk is 90 calories. So shouldn't the drink be closer to 180 calories? Say the grande is only filled up 3/4 of the way with milk, then that is still 135 calories. Does that mean the espresso shot and syrup is only 5 calories?

      • jelwatson
      • 3/20/2011 8:52 PM

      In reply to: blumejm

There are two shots of espresso in a Grande, so that's two ounces right there, reducing the possible amount of milk to 14 oz. Espresso has no calories, and the sugar free syrup is also calorie free. Essentially, due to the foam from steaming the milk (unless you ask specifically for no foam) and shots/syrup, you're closer to 12-13 ounces of milk in a grande. The drizzle of caramel adds a few calories, but most if not all of the calories will be from the milk.

I watch every thing I eat and drink, never going to places like Starbucks because of the amount of calories and sugar in their drinks. However, I ran into a friend at Target where there is a Starbucks and she had a drink in her hand.
