Thanksgiving Blend Fit for a Feast

A little more than three years ago, I found myself sitting in the private dining room of a well-known and much-loved Seattle restaurant. With me around the table were an iconic Seattle restaurateur, one of his executive chefs, three coffee experts and a host of people just happy to be there. (As the product manager for the yet-to-be-introduced Thanksgiving Blend, I was one of those.)

We had narrowed our search for the perfect coffee to accompany arguably the year’s most important dinner to two amazing blends. Our mission was simple, yet daunting: drink coffee, eat an amazing Thanksgiving feast, talk about the coffee and select the next great Starbucks blend.

As we explored the feast and sipped the coffee, each of the blends seemed to change with every bite. The herbal stuffing brought out the best in the Sumatra component of one, while a tea-like elegance in the other cut through the heavy, creamy gravy.

When dessert came out –an amazing butternut squash pumpkin upside-down cake – one coffee clearly emerged. Only this blend of herbal Sumatra and delicate, cocoa-y Guatemala Antigua coffees could hope to accompany everything in the meal, from start to finish. Those of us around the table agreed. Three years later, we still agree. And three years later, I’m thankful to have been involved in this coffee’s creation.

For me "coffee" is a way I start my day. I always look forward to that first cup and I thoroughly enjoy it. At other times "coffee" is more than just a beverage. Those times its a feeling, an emotion, a sense of something else and I feel that was reflected in the creation of the Thanksgiving Blend.

Completely love Thanksgiving blend but it was hard to find and short-lived this year. I understand the retail push to move quickly on to Christmas Blend, however, it is a disappointment to have only been able to purchase Thanksgiving once this season...and that was after stopping at four Starbucks stores in 3 cities. Finally found it in Lafayette, Indiana...an hour and a half from home.

I stopped in my Local SB this afternoon to pick up the thanksgiving blend and to my surprise they did not have any on display. I picked up a pack of the Christmas blend but when I went to check out I asked for the TG blend, the lady had to go to the back but found me a bag of it. It was very good after our TG dinner today. They definately did not have this availible very long and to me it was not good marketing to pull this off the shelves before Thanksgiving day was done.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll pass it along to the coffee team. I agree Thanksgiving Blend was a real treat this year, but not around long enough.

@motostar472 - Thanksgiving Blend has a limited supply. Once it is gone it is gone until next year. You can order a Starbucks Traditions Coffee Tour at www.StarbucksStore.com. Thanksgiving Blend is included in this tour. You can be one of the first to receive it next year.

I love Thanksgiving blend. My favorite by far. Only available for such a short time and many stores it is gone before Thanksgiving. The stores I go to only brewed it a couple of days and now they say they won't brew anymore. Why can't the stores brew it through the month of November til Thanksgiving?

This might be my favorite of all the starbucks coffees....I made sure I stocked up this year - made the mistake of NOT buying enough last season -)

I bought 12 bags this past season and am now down to my last bag : (
What would you consider to be the closest to this? Gold Caoast and Komodo will have to do til next Thanksgiving, maybe this year I will go for 2 dozen bags!
