Perfect Your Starbucks VIA® Flavored Coffee Experience
If you’re like me then you love to enjoy a sweet treat with your daily cup of coffee. So when I heard about the four new Starbucks VIA® Flavored Coffees, I took on the heavy burden of finding the most delectable food pairings to make my experience (and yours!) truly perfect. It really is a tough job some days but someone has to do it.
Starbucks VIA® Vanilla Flavored Coffee’s new bff is definitely the Petite Vanilla Bean Scone. These best pals can be found hanging out together because of their mutual love for only the best natural vanilla flavor. You’ll see the flecks of real vanilla bean in the yummy scone, which really amps up the flavor of the coffee to create dreamy vanilla nirvana.
Starbucks VIA® Mocha Flavored Coffee and the Double Fudge Mini Doughnut make this pairing a triple threat! It reminded me of a chocolate dream come true to life. I mean, seriously – the flavor of chocolate upon chocolate upon chocolate? It doesn’t get much sweeter than this.
Starbucks VIA® Caramel Flavored Coffee paired with a Double Chocolate Brownie taste like those yummy turtle candies minus the nuts on top. The sweet, smooth caramel flavors swirl with the chocolaty goodness to create a hard-to-resist pairing.
Finally, Starbucks VIA® Cinnamon Spice Flavored Coffee and a slice of Pumpkin Bread are like the unexpected odd couple who end up getting married. They totally make it work but you just never thought of putting them together. The sweet cinnamon and pumpkin spice flavors make a surprisingly spectacular match!

you can make any of the flavored VIA iced!! We are constantly making iced samples of all the flavors everyday for our customers to try. Caramel is the best. I also really enjoy a combination of the mocha and the caramel. Just stir 8oz of milk or water with one packet of flavored via, add some ice for the chill factor, and you've got pure deliciousness in a cup. you can make any of the flavored VIA iced!! I would like to see the flavors in a iced via concept. I love flavored coffee and like these but I want some flavors just for iced drinkers as well.
You can always just add the VIA to cold milk to make an instant iced latte!

I purchased the mocha flavor , the subtle chocolate flavor is nice but the sweetener leaves a bit of an after taste that I am not so fond of.
Its sweetened with 100% cane sugar.
I try to eat clean and would love to see these new flavors as well as the iced via in a sugar free option. This would be a great idea for diabetics too!
I totally agree with this customer, ther are a number of people watching ther sugar/calorie intake. Great idea.
I feel sorry for diabetics, I have 2 in my family. It would be a good idea to make a sugar free version, But I cant stand the artificial sweeteners on the market. All have controversy and possible side effects to your health. Sugar is natural and best.
What a ridiculous thing to say, on both counts. Diabetics don't need you to feel sorry for us. But being educated on the disease would help you from looking so foolish! You may be fine with cramming sugar down your own throat, but sugar is NOT healthy for you, regardless of it being natural or not. In moderation, yes, it is a good source of sweetness. But for most diabetics, carbohydrates (sugar is a simple carbohydrate, and absolutely not OK for diabetics to use) are not a viable option.
no need to freak out.... my point was sugar is better than things like aspartame, which are made entirely from chemical sources. Dont know much about Splenda though.
Also, Splenda is made from sugar, therefore there is no aspartame in it. It's a sweetener but studies have found no bad effects on it.
Sweeteners are consumed in such small amounts, that even if the studies were true about the possible future side effects, you most likely would never be effected by them. Unless of course you consume huge amounts of artificial sweeteners each day.
Ditto
I too would love a sugar free version. I do like the flavors, but 11g of sugar is too much for a drink!
Decaf in the flavored would be nice for the nighttime treat.
Also in the flavored VIA's make a 3 pack and a 12 pack option.
I'd also love to see these in a sugar free version.
Me too!
I definitely would try a sugar free version of the new flavors.
Erin, how did such a bad tasing product get brought to market? I am a two times a day (most days) starbucks person, and i do like the regualar and iced via product...but the mocha and carmel flavors are EXTREMELY bad. Did this product really test well???? I don't give it a long life at all.
'rick' did you buy the packets that Starbuck's is offering with a free coffee? I'm wondering if l should buy either one! I love caramel and mocha! Did you get to try free samples of either or did you have to buy the '6 pack' to find out how 'EXTREMELY' bad they tasted! ;o)
I unfortunately bought a six pack of each. It was a spontaneous purchase during my afternoon craving. I am definately a mocha and carmel person as well. But there are no words to describe...just try it and let me know what you think. :)
Interesting too how on another blog post on this site my comments disappeared. ???
Hi Rick, I'm a partner...sorry to hear that you didn't like either the Mocha and Carmel. I would like to offer a suggestion; recently I read that the Mocha is really tastie with heated milk. It gives a hot choclate/Mocha taste. As for the carmel, it too is great with regular VIA and milk with carmel sauce. Which you can pick up at your nearest STBux. I hope you will give this a try and if it doesn't satisfy then I would bring it up to your StBux manager at the store of patronage.
I use half water and half milk in the mocha . . . . LOVE IT ! ! !
I LOVE the mocha. On the weekends I add a splash of Bailey's. YUM !
Having tasted all of the different VIA, take my word when i say you are much better off just having the original VIA's. They are unsweetened which means you can add your preferred sweetener and in addition you can make them both iced and hot!
I would have to agree that this is quite possibly the worst coffee I have ever tasted. I got a free sample (luckily didn't pay for it) of the mocha. I did not add milk though, so that may have made it taste better. It did leave a yucky aftertaste as well. I will try the vanilla and the mocha and see how there are and will likely add milk this time too.
sorry . . . meant to say caramel is the one I tasted.
I would like to say that I enjoy the Cinnamon flavoured coffee and am wondering if Starbucks can come up with a lower calorie one flavoured with Splenda or something of that nature. When you add ***** to the already 60 calories, you can get well over 100 calories. Thank you for listening.
Ditto :-) I think the cinnamon is the best flavored VIA. But way too much sugar.
You people are all missing the point that everything is NATURAL. NATURAL sugar, not some manufactured artificial sweetener or HFCS (in which, contrarily everyone thinks is *good* for them) and NATURAL flavors. Also, you can make it iced! Mix it with cold water or milk and add ice. Simple.
Then leave out the sugar completely and let diehard coffee drinkers like all of us add our own. We all know we like it just so...
Oh, please please! Can we have Decaf versions please? So we may enjoy it not only "wherever" but "whenever, anytime of the day" too! Iced versions sound good too, ESP for mocha!
Does anyone know if the new Via flavored can be made with like the Iced Via, with cold milk?
Have not tried it cold yet, but have added milk and it tastes great. In the past when I have wanted cold coffee, I used the regular via, brewed it with hot water (a little less than called for), then poured over ice and milk. Works pretty good, esp with some caramel drizzled on top.
I put Vanilla Via in the blender with milk and ice and a half of banana and just a little sugar free choc smoothie mix... yum yum... great desert
yes!! just do it!
There is definitely a bite to these, a little bit of bitter aftertaste. BUT, I am one of those people who LIKE a bite to their coffee. I bought one of each except the Mocha, and have liked them all. It says to add 8 oz of water, I probably used 10-12. Then added just a splash of warm milk and flavored creamer. I love them! What I would like to see though is a variety pack!
I, too, am hoping to see both decaf and non-sweetened options developed. I don't quite understand why 'flavored' items are created pre-sweetened the 1st time out. Not everyone likes sugar in their coffee (*raises hand & frantically waves*). Why not start black & build up? From a cost perspective, it's cheaper to have High Test or Decaf & just add flavoring, vs having roasted, flavored caf & decaf beans to brew. But it's a bummer for someone like me who likes my coffee straight
Bitter!! The caramel flavor was soooo bitter and sweet, with the taste and smell of caramel. But soooo bitter I would have to add more sweetener. Will never buy this again.

I would love to be able drink VIA but as has been mentioned above it has been sweetened. Ugh
I purchased the via storage mug when the original via coffee packets first came out. I want to try the new flavors, but the packets are twice as big as the ones that fit in the mug. The reason I bought the mug was so I don't have to carry around the packets in my purse or book bag - now you changed the size and none of the new flavors fit. I want my money back for the mug! What was even the point of creating it? To take advantage of your customers?!
Lots of questions about the possibility for decaf and sugar-free versions of these products. While we don’t have any current plans for those in the works, we love hearing your suggestions and knowing what you’d like to see – thanks for sharing! In the meantime, don’t forget that we do have Decaf Italian Roast available in Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew.
I love the mocha flavored via. Where can I find nutritional information for Via coffees?
I have to say that i haven't been able to find them online but they are on the back of every six pack, 60 calories and i believe 11 grams of sugar? correct me if i'm wrong
11 grams of sugar? OH MY! I haven't tried this yet just for this reason. I now drink only unsweetened iced tea all day with just natural flavorings from herbal teas. That's how I broke my sugar cravings. My doc just told me I'll live to be 100--We ARE what we eat and drink! Take note Starbucks!
11g of sugar is not that bad. Depending on how often you drink these. I love the flavor of the vanilla and cinnamon spice. Wonderful products and if you are that worried about the sugar, cut back on dessert or something else sweet. A bowl of average cereal has 11g of sugar, which is why i dont eat boxed cereals anymore.
11 grams of carbohydrate is a lot when you keeping yourself to 50-60 grams a day. Just offer an unsweetened version, you can add your natural sugar and those of us watching carbs can use the product.
Cinnamon Spice flavored coffee and pumpkin bread!!! What a wonderful combination!
can you make unsweetened via??? way too much sugar, as if we have enough people with type 2 diabetes in north america already...
unsweetened would be a good idea. But the sugar is not alot haha. Depends on if you snack on chocolate/candy/sugary drinks all day.
Does anyone know the caffeine content in one package of flavored via?
Any holiday specialty flavors coming out soon? Peppermint mocha would be nice!
Hi Librariange. Vanilla and Caramel VIA flavored coffees contain 150mg-160mg of caffeine per 8 fl oz cup. Mocha and Cinnamon Spice VIA flavored coffees contain 185mg-195mg of caffeine per 8 fl oz cup. 8 fl oz of brewed coffee contains about 155mg caffeine. Vanilla and Caramel are comparable to the brewed coffee and Mocha and Cinnamon Spice are slightly higher. Flavored VIA contains 11g-12g of sugar per 8 fl oz cup prepared as directed. Hope this helps!
thank you!
I would like to suggest using Stevia or Xylitol (both are natural sweeteners) in the new Via flavors for a sugar-free treat with no unpleasant aftertaste. I have come up with a GREAT way to enjoy these when I travel - I make a YUMMY protein shake for breakfast using a packet of the new flavored VIA (my favs are Caramel or Mocha), one ounce fat-free dry milk, 1 packet of sugar-free whey protein (Vanilla or Chocolate), and blend it all up in blender with ice - it comes out like a Frappucino!
That's a great idea- I'll have to try it!

Just tried the Mocha ... sorry Starbucks, I don't care for it at all. The chocolate doesn't really taste like chocolate and there's a bitter aftertaste from either the sweetener or chocolate that's absolutely horrid. I like the original VIA's and the Iced VIA, but this one so far is a bust for me.
I like my FLAVOURED VIA mixed into a glass of cold 2% milk. While not resonating with the aroma, and top notes, of a hot beverage, I find the cold route more satisifying. Besides, when it's busy in the afternoon, I find it easier to enjoy a cold beverage warming up, than a hot one cooling down. I just received the NEW FRENCH ROAST VIA packages, and noticed the similarity to the current FLAVOURED VIA packages. (though smaller). Are ALL the 'old' VIA packages in for a design makeove
Hello, I drink expresso, expresso roast (the grind that is used to make Starbucks specialty drinks), and I typically drink a 4 shot Americano every day. I prefer consistency and no surprises every morning so expresso roast gives me that. I also purchase expresso roast whole bean coffee for home if I can't get out. Sooooo why not have an instant (whoops....I mean microgrind(ound)) EXPRESSO ROAST version.

I've tried the Caramel, Cinnamon Spice and Mocha. Huge fan of the Caramel. Cinnamon Spice took a little time to grow on me, but ended up liking it as well. I usually get 2-3 cups out of one packet of these flavored Vias then add a bit of milk. Great way to start my morning when I don't have time to stop in the store.

Hello. Can you tell me how much caffeine is in one packet of the Starbucks VIA Italian roast? Thanks!
Oops, that last question should have been how much caffeine is in one packet of the Starbucks decaf VIA Italian roast? Thanks!
I purchased some of the via mocha packets but they don't fit in my via mug. Why would you market them as via pouches when they don't fit the via mug. I find it very annoying. On a limited budget, my startbucks via is a real treat. I do not spend the 6 plus dollars for a box of via packets at the drop of a hat. Is there a plan to solve this size problem? Also, in the meantime how do I either return the mug or the packets? I did not save my receipt. Thank you for your help.
