Introducing Starbucks Refreshers™ Iced Beverage

Starbucks refreshers

You know that cool moment, when you come across something head-scratchingly different, new or just plain-old-intriguing? Like discovering a new band, a hidden-gem restaurant, a new app, a genius artist? I love that feeling!

Well, here’s to a new kind of coffee experience that I hope feels a little like that. You have told us you want more thirst-quenching beverages at Starbucks. So we dabbled. We played. We mixed. We tasted. We dabbled a little more. And we created Starbucks Refreshers™, a new line of iced beverages currently available in select stores in southern California and Arizona.

Starbucks Refreshers™ Iced Beverages come in two flavors: Very Berry Hibiscus with real blackberries and Cool Lime with a slice of real lime. Each contains real fruit, fruit juice – and green, unroasted coffee extract. We call it Greenstyle™ Coffee.

Around the beverage department we like to say “the newest thing in coffee tastes nothing like coffee.” Greenstyle™ Coffee is a new ingredient made solely of green coffee beans, so it has a light, subtle taste unlike that of roasted coffee, but it still provides a bit of natural caffeine.

I’m a big fan of these drinks because they are super thirst-quenching. I’m hoping you all in SoCal and Arizona will be fans, too. I’d love to hear what you think.

I tasted the Hibiscus refresher and it was awesome! Can you give me the calorie stats on this drink, sweetened and unsweetened? Thanks.

The information I have is approximately 100 calories for the Lime, a little more for the Berry (and that's the venti size). Low sugar - can't remember the exact grams. I want to say 9. No sweetener added unless requested - so the sugar content is only what comes in the juices.

Here in Phoenix we also have a Strawberry Lemonade on that is awesome!!!!! I have recently quit drinking soda and the small caffine content in this works well to ward of the caffine headache!

I had my 1st Very Berry Hibiscus yesterday, and couldn't wait to get another one today. Thought about it all evening yesterday and early this morning. So good!! The weather was in the high 90's today, and this was the perfect drink to quench my Summer thirst!! :) I especially love the fact that there are berries in it to munch on after the drink is gone.

I had my first Berry Hibiscus refresher today and really liked it, but I need to know how many grams of sugar are in it, it doesn't taste too sweet, but I still need to know what's in it. When will that info be available?

Had my first Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher today - wow! So mild and subtle, but (and I hate to be redundant) refreshing! I think next time I might go with no classic, though - it was a little sweet.

Starbucks needs to be A LOT more clear that this drink has only rolled out in a small part of the U.S. On http://www.starbucks.com/promo/refreshers -- no mention until you get to the last sentence of the blog.

I'm ticked off because I got an email promoting this (I'm in VA), walked a half mile to Starbucks in 95-degree heat -- and of course ended up with no Refresher (only confused looks).

Please, for the other 90% of the country, make it CLEAR these are only available in a limited area.

Don't worry... they are going national next year along with the Ready to Drink version in supermarkets and convenience stores, right now testing only in Arizona
. Right now Refreshers in retail stores are available in Southern California and Arizona.

My big question with this is what other sweeteners are in the drink? The bottled ones have erythritol, an artificial sweetener, but I have not been able to find the information on the ones made in the store. Anyone know?

Unfortunately, erythritol in the ones from the counter as well. Artificial sweeteners are really not healthy. I wish they'd have considered stevia instead. Or just stuck with sugar.

Thanks for your comments. Some of you have asked for the calorie counts for the beverages. The Berry Hibiscus Refreshers has 60 calories for a Tall (12 oz.), 70 calories for a Grande (16 oz.), 100 calories for a Venti (24 oz.), and 130 calories for a Trenta (31 oz.). The Cool Lime Refreshers has 40 calories for a Tall (12 oz.), 50 calories for a Grande (16 oz.), 80 calories for a Venti (24 oz.), and 100 calories for a Trenta (31 oz.).

I love the Very Berry Hibiscus and I am going to be so upset in the winter and I can't have one. I live in Arizona and I would love to have a refresher year round! Any idea how long I have to enjoy the Very Berry or other drink suggestions if I love the Very Berry?

Today, the barista at Starbucks swayed me from my favorite Unsweeted Passion Fruit Shaken Iced Tea to trying the Very Berry one! It.is.delicious. I was worried that it would be high in calories/sugar but I am SO glad it's not! I will definitely be getting this again. I was so excited that I told all of my sisters in Nashville, Denver and Michigan that they had to run to Sbux to try it. Oops...

You need to expand this to all stores before summer is over!!

I tried the Very Berry Refresher at a Starbucks in Escalon, CA for the first time last week but when I tried to order one from the Starbucks near my work (Pleasanton, CA) they did not carry it. Is there some way that we can find out which stores carry the Refreshers, so that I can stop in and get one? I live in Manteca, CA but would prefer not to have to stop at every store along the way to work to see if they have this drink.

I have ordered both the lime and the berry a few times now and absolutely love them! I am hoping this is an item you will keep on the menu. It would be great if you could post calories and sugar content directly to the main "refresher" page. I see information on this in mutliple comments, but would be helpful if listed on main page.

Ask people who know me, I'm always on the hunt for a "refreshing" drink. So imagine my delight when I discovered the lime refresher at the local Starbucks while I was back home in California (I currently live in Chicago). Amazingly refreshing with a hint of a unique flavor in the finish. Much to my disappointment, when I asked about the Refresher in Chicago, they had no idea what I was talking about. Found my perfect refreshing drink only to find out it's out of my reach! Come to Chicago!

I'm in Arizona, and my visits to Starbucks dramatically decrease during the summer because, outside of the morning, it's just too dang hot to drink coffee. I'm just not a huge fan of the iced coffee drinks.

At my Target tonight, I saw a banner at the Starbucks there promoting these. Intrigued, I tried the Very Berry Hibiscus. It was really great. It wasn't overly sweet but very refreshing. I felt like I was drinking an adult drink.

Well done! Please bring them back next summer!

I tried the Berry hibiscus and I LOVED IT! Not only is it refreshing but it's good for you too; what more can we ask for from a Starbucks drink. No guilt in drinking this drink! :-) However, I wish that Starbucks would come out with coupons for their introductory drinks, especially for "Cardholders." I would be more willing to try new things if given a discount on new merchandise or drinks.

These are very tasty but I very surprised no one mention how little value you get in one these drinks. Way to small for the price especially they pack it with so much ice. Maybe charge a tad less or give more. Even better give more and blend the ice and the refresher in a blender before you give to me and it will be like Magarita without the alcohol. Seriously think about it.

I Absolutely Love the Refreshers. We put an adult spin on the cool lime by adding pineapple rum to it. It was amazing. One thing I do and may suggest to other is to 1. Get it with out water or very little water, 2. substitute Lemonade for water! The water in the recipe makes the drink average and impedes the flavor. Plus with the drink being on ice and as the ice melts, it really make the drink seem less the average and undrinkable disappointing.

I have fallen in love with the Very Berry Hibiscous and have even converted some Non-Starbuckers to giving it a try and they have loved it. And then today the sad news that they are out of it here in Visalia and will no longer carry them...it apparently is a promo deal and they aren't going to carry year round.

I had one of the berry ones not to long ago and it was so good. I had time to get another one not long after. This weekend however, my mom and I went to Starbucks our mouths all ready only to find they no longer carry the berry one, only the lime. Nothing really special about the lime. The refreshers are a great idea, specially here in California where is is 100plus right now. I like iced coffees fine but it isn't particularly refreshing when it is hot and won't help you if you are thirsty.

Bring back the Refreshers please. I'm not a coffee or tea person. My sister had me try the Very Berry Refresher. I visited 3 Starbucks over the weekend looking for one. Finally the last store told me it was a test drink and sold out statewide. So when I returned home today my first stop was Starbucks, to be told they were also sold out. When will the Very Berry Refresher be back? I'm a dedicated fan to this new beverage. Please don't take it away. I'll have no reason to visit Starbucks.

I had the Refresher when I was visiting Phoenix at a Conference. After finding them, I went back for one (or more) every day. On my way home, I tried to get one just to find out that they are not being sold outside of the test market area. I was not very happy to find this news out. I have been craving one ever since! You guys have to make this an option at all Starbucks all over the U.S. I NEED ONE! Thanks. :)

I'm really upset to find the very berry hibiscus is not on the permanent menu. Please bring it back. It was very delicious and as the name says, refreshing!! Thank you Starbucks :)

I discovered the canned versions while living in AZ for a couple of months & made sure my fridge was never without them. I just moved to Claremont, CA & have been searching frantically for them, only to discover that they're only available in select areas/stores. This breaks my heart! If I'd have known this before moving, I'd have cleared out every store in AZ & brought them with me to CA... despite the airline's overweight baggage fees! As it is, I'm going to see if someone in AZ will ship to me

Enroute from CA to WA ... I went to a Starbucks in Safeway to charge up in Eugene, OR. It was closed ... uggh. Hit the energy drink aisle and there was the Starbucks Refresher. It hit the spot and did the job!!!

Now if only I could find them here in Nor Cal!!!
