5 Easy Resolutions to Tackle in 2012
We do it every year. We come up with a lengthy list of New Years resolutions that will transform our lives! We swear to finally use that gym membership, lose 10 pounds, pay off our credit cards and bulk up our savings account, all while keeping the house spotless and learning to speak Chinese. Sound familiar?
In the middle of all that, it can be easy to miss those smaller goals that, easy as they are to carry out, come with exponential benefits. This year, feel free to take it easy and still make a difference. Here are five ways:
Starbucks Digital Network Welcomes TakePart
The Starbucks Digital Network is honored to announce a new content partnership with the influential social action network TakePart. TakePart’s Take Action: 30 Ways for 30 Days monthly action calendar is now a regular feature on our My Neighborhood channel. New Starbucks Perks in the UK!
Good news! Our mobile payment program is now available to our friends in the UK through the official iPhone application from Starbucks!
This new functionality is a great addition to all the other services already available on the Starbucks for iPhone app in the United Kingdom. The app can also be used to manage your Starbucks Card account, reload your card, transfer balances between cards, find nearby stores and explore Starbucks products and offers.

Introducing Starbucks® Blonde Roast, the Newest Addition to our Coffee Family
I always look forward to my morning coffee, whether I’m sluggishly heading out the door on a Monday morning or cozily settling in after a weekend stroll in my Seattle neighborhood. While I love to explore our different coffees, I tend to stick to a balanced cup, like Pike® Place Roast. My husband, on the other hand, loves the darkest of dark roasts – the bolder the better. And then there’s my dad, who, while he treasures his morning coffee, typically finds some of our coffees a little too dark for his tastes.
Precious Moments to Wind Down
At last, it’s time to log off. You do the 21st century equivalent of punching the clock and face what remains of the day. It’s time to uncoil a bit and music is a vital part of the process.
Our Timothy J. has put together the brand new Wind Down, a selection of a dozen songs that say “day is done.” Bearing a striking nightscape cover, the CD offers up choice gems by Thievery Corporation, Moby,Groove Armada and other modern music innovators. It’s a forum for music with an electronic undercurrent that’s suited for taking things down a notch. Dating from the late 1990s to 2011, these warmly buzzing tracks capture the heyday of international electronica, whether you call it nu jazz, ambient or whatever.
Java Means Coffee
So, what’s with the name Blue Java? Well, blue refers to the color of the raw coffee beans before we roast them up. Most unroasted coffee beans have a greenish hue, but what is unusual about these raw beans is that they show distinctive deep blue-green color. In the cup, the coffee has herbaceous notes of sage and fresh earth and a sweet and syrupy mouthfeel.
An Opportunity to Give Students Opportunities
