“Trenta” Means More Refreshment

Trenta

As you may have heard, we’ve launched a new, 31 oz cold cup size called "Trenta," which will be available in all of our U.S. stores by May 3. We're excited to offer this larger size to our iced coffee and Tazo® iced tea fans out there. (And if you are a fan, don’t worry – unsweetened drinks in this new size will still have about 90 calories, while sweetened versions will have about 230 calories.)

So, why did we launch the Trenta? We listened to you. You told us on My Starbucks Idea and through your purchases that you love refreshing iced coffee and tea beverages but want them in a larger size. Did you know that over 60% of our iced tea customers currently order our largest size, the 24 oz Venti?

Now you iced coffee and tea fans can enjoy more refreshment – a Trenta offers seven more ounces than a Venti at a cost of only 50 cents more!

Starting this month, Trenta cups will be available for our friends lucky enough to see the sun more often these days – those of you located in the sun belt. The rest of our stores will receive Trenta cups later on as summer rolls in.

jparky I am sure Starbucks wont mind loosing one customer so buh bye!! Leave if you dont like it dont buy it!!! There are ways to make the drinks have less calories and less sugar in them and you would know that if you are a true Starbucks customer instead of a fair weather one.

I for one am excited to be able to get a larger tea size as that is what I order most. To the critics who think this will make Americans fatter I say if you want to lose a few pounds stop eating fast food, which is way worse than tea. My only complaint is that when I asked my local store when I could expect to see the new size they told me never so there may be a bit of a training issue since I came here to say all stores should carry it and see that by the end of this year they will.

So excited for a summer full of iced tea! Personally I prefer black unsweetened iced tea so the idea of 7 more ounces making America fatter is a bit ridiculous - but then some people will never have a good thing to say about anything. I'd hate to be that miserable!!

The only reason I find the Trenta ok is because it is only available for Iced Coffee, Iced Tea & water. If and when customers start asking for it as a regular beverage that is when people will start getting the effects of coffee and it may cause problems. Don't overdo it, keep it only to Iced Tea, Iced Coffee & H20.

I believe it is up to each individual to decide what is "over-doing." I personally would LOVE to see this size in hot beverages. They re-heat well and would last all day for me. Please consider extending it across the whole menu.

Well, I think it should include all cold beverages and that would mean the fraps, too. I'm the only one in charge of my weight. But having an all soy frap with no whip, doesn't have that many calories and it takes me about an hour to finish the venti, the trenta would just last that much longer. Plus, if I have one of these, I don't have additional food...it is my lunch or breakfast or dinner. Try a raspberry-white mocha...excellent!

I would love to see the hot drinks in a larger size also. I get the venti mocha with a tall cup of ice. I drink a tall that day and put the rest in the fridge. I can then have another the next day and whatever is left the third day. Tastes the same and I don't have to make extra out of my way trips to get it.

Awesome they are doing the larger sizes but not happy that u cant get the Iced mocha's or Chai tea's I drink both and have been told they cant make them in that size. Its the peoples choice to buy whatever size they choose.. Another restriction I think we are adults and can make our own choose.

"And if you are a fan, don’t worry – unsweetened drinks in this new size will still have about 90 calories..." Shouldn't the unsweetened teas be 0 calories anyway?? :/

I think the "sweetened/unsweetened" in this category must actually refer to the Iced Tea Lemonades, which would be closer to the 230 mark. The sweetened teas and iced coffees will have about 150 calories for a Trenti. I don't think unsweetened tea has calories, unsweetened coffee would have about 15 cals.

Love this idea! I see a lot of people posting negative things elsewhere about offering a larger size; those people have clearly not even looked closely enough to see that the high-calorie drinks (frappucinos, etc.) will not even be offered in this side. (Though I think it would be fine if they were, but I wouldn't get them, anyway). I love Starbucks iced coffee, but I can finish a venti way too fast and am always disappointed when it is gone. Now my coffee will last the whole morning!

I think its so strange that Starbucks is not selling other iced drinks in the new size. For the people that are saying its good because iced coffee and tea are 'healthier' beverages...not necessarily, it all depends on what you're doing to it. You can make an iced tea or coffee bad for you by adding sugar or ***** to it. Starbucks sells plenty of high calorie high fat food items, don't forget. When I asked my store what the reason was they could not give me one, I'd like to

I was hoping to get a "trenta" iced coffee today, but the Starbucks I went to still does not have them. I was told no stores in NJ have them yet (contrary to this article which states they "will be available in all of our U.S. stores by May 3."
