We have many programs that encourage and support partners (employees) to make a difference in their local communities. Through Make Your Mark, Starbucks matches partner and customer volunteer hours with cash contributions to nonprofit organizations. Partners are also able to contribute to the CUP (Caring Unites Partners) Fund, a financial assistance program to help other partners in need. In addition, we provide product donations to local organizations where our partners volunteer.

The unique partnership of Starbucks and Earvin "Magic" Johnson brings retail vitality and economic opportunity to diverse neighborhoods through a joint venture known as Urban Coffee Opportunities. The presence of a Starbucks store can be a catalyst for other business development in a community as well as an inviting place to work and meet.

While most of our local giving is linked to the involvement of our partners, Starbucks finds additional ways to help strengthen community life. Some are large-scale efforts done in all North American communities where Starbucks stores are located, while other initiatives are unique to a specific community. For example, in our hometown of Seattle, Washington, Starbucks provides grants for Seattle-area parks. Seattles library system was also strengthened through significant funding from Starbucks. Please review our donation and sponsorship guidelines to find out if your organization is eligible to receive support from Starbucks.
